Today’s Haul: “Taiwan Travelogue” by Yang Shuangzi, translated by Lin King (@roseyanger @linkinglionking)

So. Proud.

Many thanks to Scribe Publications (@scribepub) for sending this book. I placed the order yesterday at 2:30pm and received the book today at noon. So fast, and the book was so lovingly wrapped. Purchasing directly from publishers can be this good.

Also thanks to Australia Post (@auspost) of course.

Here is an article about the International Booker Prize-winning “Taiwan Travelogue”, by Dr Mei-Fen Kuo from Macquarie University (@macquarieuni), via The Conversation (@theconversation.aunz). An excellent read, precise and straight-to-the-point.

This is a great starting point to better understand Taiwan and its unique people and culture. As Kuo argues:”Taiwan is usually discussed in Australia through geopolitics, but Taiwan Travelogue tells a different story. Through food, language, memory and intimacy, it makes Taiwan visible as a lived society, rather than simply a strategic flashpoint.”
