Time Travel (“Warm Winter Read” Day 7)

Finished The Good Wife of Bath. Currently halfway through the very long “Author’s Note”. Will write a review soon.

Also watched the cult classic Somewhere in Time (1980), which is based on Richard Matheson’s sci-fi novel Bid Time Return (1975). First watched this film when I was 15 and it left a very deep impression on me. Would consider this as one of my favourite romance stories.

Matheson once said: “Somewhere in Time is the story of a love which transcends time, What Dreams May Come is the story of a love which transcends death… I feel that they represent the best writing I have done in the novel form.” Tried so hard to find these two books because of this, even when their audiobook editions are easily available. I think I need words in my hands.

P.S. Wikipedia says Richard Collier derives his method of time travel from An Experiment with Time (1927) by J.W. Dunne. Misread this and started reading about John Donne: “Our two souls therefore, which are one, / Though I must go, endure not yet / A breach, but an expansion, / Like gold to airy thinness beat.”
