Started reading The Wild Robot Escapes, sequel to The Wild Robot. Saw the praises from other authors who compared Peter Brown’s robot books with The Iron Man: A Children’s Story in Five Nights by Ted Hughes in 1968.
It is amazing how the book title was changed to “The Iron Giant” in the US in order to avoid confusion with Iron Man from Marvel Comics.
Even more amazing is the fact that the creature “Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon” crash-lands in Australia. Why Australia?! Serves him right that he gets badly sunburned!
What interests me is how the appearance of the giant robot changed over time. In the UK alone – George Adamson (first edition), Andrew Davidson (1985) and Chris Mould (2019). (See the three images below)

Meanwhile, Hughes published a sequel in 1993 titled The Iron Woman – and this time there was no need to change the title. Her appearance changed twice – George Adamson (first edition) and Andrew Davidson (1993). (See the two images below) Will there be a new edition with a new illustrator and how will they visualise her?
