SIGN
Your hands show and tell, swiftly,
you’re with me. Every finger curling,
swaying, dipping and lifting matters,
reveals hidden corners of your heart
unseen, unsaid in your eyes. Still
reluctant to respond, looking at you
with eyes wide open, I am content
in my silence, knowing I own this
wordless world (or worldless word)
where only action counts. A heart
pulses in step with mine, vibrations
I sense through skin and air, sending
ripples across the surface that divides
you and me. Connecting two sides of
this mirror, conveying without sound
souls full of yearning, for friendship,
love and understanding. You’re all
I see, this moment before our universe
sighs goodnight and mutes all starlight.
